Based in Texas, Mary Padian discovered a love of found objects and furniture while working as the assistant to Paige Rense, the editor of Architectural Digest. Ms. Padian went on to become assistant editor, and began producing a series of videos called, "Mary's Finds". These videos eventually became a store, also called, Mary's Finds, which she opened in 2010 in Dallas, Texas. She was introduced to the world of storage auctions, by "Storage Wars: Texas" cast member, Morris "Moe" Prigoff.
