He started out wrestling for the National Wrestling Alliance in 1974 and also worked for World Championship Wrestling, Jim Crockett Promotions, the World Wrestling Council, World Class Championship Wrestling, the American Wrestling Association, and the World Wrestling Federation. Atlas held the WWF Tag Team Championship with Rocky Johnson and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006.
